Recall Regulations - RVSM

What this means for your checkride

No person may operate a civil aircraft in airspace designated as Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) airspace unless the operator and aircraft comply with the minimum standards of appendix G of Part 91, and the operator is authorized by the Administrator or the country of registry to conduct such operations. RVSM airspace allows 1,000-foot vertical separation at high altitudes only for properly equipped and authorized operations.

Pilots must know that operating in RVSM airspace requires both compliant equipment and specific authorization.

The common trap

Meeting the equipment standards alone is not enough; operator authorization is also required.

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
