Recall information on an Aircraft Registration Certificate

What this means for your checkride

The Certificate of Aircraft Registration is issued to the aircraft owner and must be carried in the aircraft. It cannot be used for operations when the aircraft is registered under the laws of a foreign country. A dealer's aircraft registration certificate is valid only for required manufacturer flight tests and necessary flights.

Pilots must know the registration certificate is required aboard and when it is or is not valid for operations.

The common trap

A dealer's registration certificate does not authorize normal operations; it is limited to specific test and delivery flights.

Before your checkride (14 CFR 61.39)

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
