Recall regulations - training programs

What this means for your checkride

Each air carrier must establish and maintain an approved training program that ensures every crewmember and dispatcher is trained and qualified for their duties. The program covers initial, transition, recurrent, and requalification training, and it must be approved by the FAA.

Standardized, approved training is central to air-carrier safety, so the FAA tests the required elements and categories of the training program.

The common trap

An air carrier cannot simply train to its own preference; the training program and its curriculum segments must be FAA-approved and kept current.

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
