Recall regulations - takeoff procedures / minimums

What this means for your checkride

Part 91 sets civil airport takeoff minimums that apply to persons operating an aircraft under Parts 121, 125, 129, or 135. These commercial operators generally may not take off unless the applicable weather minimums for the airport are met. These takeoff minimums do not apply to typical Part 91 non-commercial operations.

Pilots must know that published takeoff minimums are mandatory for commercial operators under specified parts.

The common trap

Standard takeoff minimums bind Part 121, 125, 129, and 135 operators, not ordinary Part 91 flights.

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
