Recall regulations - overwater operations

What this means for your checkride

For certain large and turbine-powered multiengine airplanes, no person may take off for a flight over water more than 50 nautical miles from the nearest shore unless the airplane carries the required survival and flotation equipment. This includes an approved life preserver for each occupant.

Pilots must know the equipment required before conducting extended overwater operations.

Before your checkride (14 CFR 61.39)

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
