Recall regulations - certificate issuance / renewal

What this means for your checkride

Application for an original pilot school certificate and rating, an additional rating, or renewal must be made on a form and in a manner prescribed by the Administrator. A pilot school may apply for renewal within 30 days preceding the month its certificate expires. If the Administrator finds the school's personnel, aircraft, facilities, approved courses, and recent training quality meet the requirements, the certificate and ratings may be renewed for an additional 24 calendar months.

Part 141 schools operate under a certificate that must be kept current, and applicants should know the issuance and renewal process and the 24 calendar month duration.

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
