Official FAA learning statement

Recall regulations - admission to flight deck

What this means for your checkride

Rules on admission to the flight deck limit who may occupy the cockpit in flight. Beyond the required crew, only specified persons, such as certain FAA inspectors, company personnel with a valid reason, or authorized government officials, may be admitted, and the pilot in command has authority over who is allowed.

Restricting flight deck access is a security and safety matter, so the FAA tests who may be admitted and the pilot in command's authority over it.

The common trap

Admission is not at the crew's casual discretion; the persons who may be carried on the flight deck are specifically enumerated, and others are not permitted even with crew consent.

A code on your test report is an area of deficiency. An authorized instructor must review it with you and endorse that review before you take the practical test, and the examiner may revisit it during the oral. Study it until you can explain it out loud, not just recognize the answer.
